Encyclopedia of Life breaks the one million species milestone
Encyclopedia of Life provides global access to knowledge about life on Earth by building a web page for each of the 1.9 million recognized species. Launching EOLv2 with more than 700,000 species back in September 2011, EOL has recently hit the one million species milestone.

Global Informatics Collaboration Creates Latest Encyclopedia of Life Platform
